Let's say that someday the world as you know it comes to an end. In this apocalyptic world you suddenly find yourself in, the dead start to rise up from their graves, if they were in graves to begin, and hunt for the living (that's you) to eat in an attempt to satisfy their never ending desire for human flesh.

Perhaps you might try to find a safe place to live out your Golden Days, if any such place still exists in said world. If you are in the MidWest, you are very likely to find an occasional grain bin. These are easy to spot because they are tall, round, and made of metal. They usually don't have any windows and have just one door.

If you see a grain bin, don't pass it by. It just might become your new home. Take a look at the grain bin in this picture. It has been renovated into a house. Well, maybe house isn't quite the right word, but it's a place where people can live, including you if you are on the run from the undead.

Now, if this was my grain bin, I would turn the entrance bridge into a drawbridge, like castles have. That way, I could get inside and make sure no one could follow me in. Of course, this means I would need a lot of food and water in case I have to hunker down inside for a while, but I'll worry about that later.

The windows are a great addition. Notice how they are high up above the ground? That means that you don't have to worry about a herd of roamers accidentally breaking your windows as they migrate through the grounds surrounding your grain bin. In a world gone to Hell, a grain bin might be seen as a little piece of Heaven!
