There were plenty of scenes were we saw members of the ring's fellowship walking across many different landscapes, but there is no denying that walking was slow. I can only imagine how happy they were when the Riders of Rohan gave them horses.
Well, not everyone was happy with horses. Gimli the dwarf was resistant to this form of transportation, but he grudgingly climbed up (or was pulled?) to sit behind Legolas. Gimli was uncomfortable on the horse because of his size, but by this time he had forged a deep friendship with Legolas that meant he now literally had Legolas's back as they rode on their horse Arod.
Westland created a set of Aragorn, Gimli, and Legolas salt and pepper shakers that pays tribute to these three characters as they traveled by horseback. Gimli and Legolas are seen on their horse and Aragorn is on his horse, Brego. There is a magnet that keeps the two shakers in the position you see here.
