Clara Oswald was a companion to the 11th and 12th Doctors. She started out as the Impossible Girl, and later proved that this title was still true.
I'm not going to explain what I just said for fear of giving away too much for those who are not caught up on all the Clara episodes, but there might be minor spoilers throughout this page. Please don't tell River, she wouldn't approve!
When it comes to dressing up in a Clara Oswald costume you have loads of options. Why? Because Clara had a lot of different looks. I am not going to recreate all of them - there are simply too many - but the ones I've included here are her more popular or eclectic looks.
The first time we met Clara she wasn't Clara. She was Oswin Oswald, and you can see see an Oswin Oswald costume here.

The Time Of The Doctor Outfit
The Time Of The Doctor was one of the Christmas specials and it had Clara wearing an adorable outfit that is fairly easy to replicate.
Here is a video showing the trailer for this episode that shows Clara in these clothes.
Black Sweater
The sweater worn by Clara was a black cardigan with a bow tie pattern knit into it. The actual sweater worn by actress Jenna Coleman is Yumi Bow Pointelle Cardigan. Sadly, this sweater is no longer available for sale; I wasn't even able to find it on eBay. So, a plain black cardigan will have to do.
Blouse
Under the sweater was a white blouse. It had long sleeves, buttoned all the way to the neck, and had a lace collar.
White Blouse
Skirt
The skirt that goes with this outfit is short, red, and plaid. The one seen here looks almost identical to Clara's, right down to the asymmetrical hemline. But there are tons of skirts available to you have a lot of choices if you want to dress up in this outfit.
Tights
Black tights are a must with this look.
Boots
Clara wore black ankle boots with buckles. What you see here is almost identical to her boots.
Necklace
Clara wore a necklace that had three brass cones on it. I have been unable to find an exact replica but I did find several other styles that look very similar to Clara's jewelry.
Journey To The Center Of The TARDIS Dress
This red, flowery dress captures the essence of Clara - it is simple, feminine, and pretty. Here is a video of Clara in this dress.
Red Dress
This short red dress is the one Clara wore in the episode called Journey To The Center of The TARDIS. The picture you see below is from a seller on Etsy but you might also be able to find a replica of this dress on eBay. I'm including a link to Amazon, even though this dress isn't currently being sold there, since it is possible that someone might add it to the site in the future.
Boots
Clara didn't wear any visible tights or nylons in this episode but she did wear black ankle boots that have buckles over the top of the foot, like the one seen here.

The Snowmen Dresses
In The Snowmen Clara was both a barmaid and a governess. She wore Victorian style clothes in this episode, including the dress you see below. I've included links to Cosplay versions of this dress, as well as alternative styles you can wear if you want to dress up in a Victorian Clara costume.
Here is a video showing the trailer for this episode, as well as Clara's many dresses.
Barmaid Dress
Clara was first seen working in a tavern wearing a red dress with a red shawl.
Victorian Dress
A little later in the episode we saw Clara working as a nanny wearing a very prim and proper gown of blue.
Victorian Boots
The most appropriate foot attire for this particular look is a pair of Victorian boots, also known as granny boots.
Robot Of Sherwood Gown
Robot of Sherwood was a really fun episode where Clara and the 12th Doctor traveled to Sherwood Forest where they met Robin Hood and his band of Merry Men.
Here is the trailer for this episode, which includes several scenes of Clara in her lovely gown.
Renaissance Gown
Clara donned a Renaissance look for Robot of Sherwood and this is a gorgeous dress to wear. It was a low-cut dress with a silver cord belt that would have been worthy of Guinevere.
There are sellers on eBay who have replicas of the dress if you want to be as authentic as possible. Or, you can browse Amazon where there are dresses similar to the one seen here.
Shoes
I'm not really sure what shoes Clara wore with this dress so I chose a style that I like. I've gone for a look that is a bit medieval while also modern and stylish. The style I chose comes in a lot of colors so choose what you like best.
Ankle Lace-Up Boots
Head Piece
Clara's outfit included a silver headpiece called a circlet. There is a seller on Etsy who has a circlet that is almost identical to Clara's, or you can choose one you like from the many on Amazon.
Wing Earrings
She also wore silver wing earrings.
Bow And Arrows
The final touch for this costume is a bow and arrows. The set meant for Disney's Merida from Brave is perfect!
Optional Accessories
Wig
Clara's hair was straight, brown, and shoulder-ish length. She wore it in a variety of ways, from up in a bun to down, so have fun choosing the right hair style for your Clara Oswald costume.
Cosplay Badge
Tell the world who you are by wearing an ID badge with information about Clara.
Clara Oswin Oswald Badge
Impossible Girl or Soufflé Girl Necklace
Leave no doubt as to who you are by wearing either of these necklaces! One says "Soufflé Girl" and the other says "Impossible Girl", both of which perfectly explain who Oswin and Clara were.
Impossible Girl or Soufflé Girl Necklace
Leaf Necklace
I have no doubt that many of you remember that a maple leaf was very special to Clara because it was a symbol of her parents love. You can add a leaf necklace to represent the leaf that was page one of her 101 Places To See book.
Whisk Bracelet
The very first time the 11th Doctor met Clara she wasn't Clara. She was Oswin Oswald and she loved to make soufflés - something Clara also enjoyed making - and she wore a belt with many items, including a whisk. You can add a reminder of this incarnation of Clara by wearing a whisk, or egg beater, bracelet.
