The day: September 8. The year: 1966. The event: Star Trek aired for the first time on television.
Little did Gene Roddenberry know he had created a show that would touch people deeply and begin a love affair with a crew that was both human and alien. Decades later the Star Trek franchise has grown to include five captains, with another on the way in 2017. But it all started with Captain Kirk and his crew.
This round cookie jar pays homage to the original Starfleet crew. The round body of the canister has images of Captain Kirk, Spock, and Scotty with a background of space. It's possible that there are more crew members on the back but I haven't been able to find a picture to know for sure.
The bottom says, "These are the voyages of the Starship Enterprise," a phrase that opened the show. The lid is the saucer part of the ship and has USS Enterprise, NCC-1701 on it. Casual and die-hard Trekkies alike are going to love Star Trek crew cookie jar.
